The Warriors drafted a center from Russia... just great... I don't have much hope for big men from Europe. The best ones I've ever seen were Arvydas Sabonis and Vlade Divac. While they both were decent, I have little faith that the newest Warrior is even half as good...

This is why I'm actually against the three strikes law. In theory, it's a dandy proposition. Make people who commit crimes habitually serve longer sentences. But then you hear about how it's being applied to a poor guy who stole a $10 calculator from a Walmart and your stomach just knots...

And it's no surprise that the state prosecuting a case (against a man it admits should have been set free years ago) is Texas. No offense to all you Texans out there. But Texas is one vindictive state...
So I have all my grades back and my GPA is about 3.2. Not bad. Could be much better. Could be much worse. I feel though that it wasn't a far stretch from being a 3.4. If I hadn't completely missed that third question on that exam, I would have gotten a 3.4 or better so in a way, I am disappointed. But since the average GPA I believe is around 3.0, I'm in the upper half of my class despite my big boo-boo. Not bad.
Yes folks, today is a new day. A day filled with hope. The hope that sees the future faces on tomorrow's Nike advertisements. Today is the day of the NBA Draft. Yes, once again, the Warriors have a lousy lottery pick. And once again, Warriors have hope that we'll get a player that can turn this team around. And once again, I believe we'll be disappointed. The Warriors front office have been amazingly inept the last decade. What could possibly turn it around for us? We traded Antawn Jamison for a washed up point guard and an old power forward. Granted, Cliff Robinson was a good player for us last year but still; look what the Mavs got for Jamison: Stackhouse, Laettner, and the #5 pick to this year's draft. That's a friggin steal. The Mavs traded Nick Van Exel and got Stackhouse, Laettner and the #5 pick. What the heck?!?!?! Just another example of Warrior ineptitude. We should trade our pick away. This draft is pretty weak. The only player I'm interested in is Josh Smith or JR Smith or Luol Deng and the Warriors don't appear to want either of the Smiths, and Deng is not gonna be around at the Warriors pick... last year I wanted Wade and look what he did for the Heat. Trust me on this one: One of the Smiths is gonna be a superstar...

Last week, my SO and I had quite a flurry of activities going on. On Sunday night, we went to a sendoff for one of my current housemates who's on a missions trip to Yunan province China with OMF. It was a good night of prayer and fellowship. We also had mochi ice cream... mmmmm. On Monday night, we entertained a sis in Christ, EK of CityChurch who happened to be in town for a few days for a dentistry rotation. We took her around the capital and around Old Town Sac which was fun. We also had ice cream (again). On Tuesday night, we went to see a Wynton Marsalis concert (jazz) at the Robert Mondavi Center at UC Davis. The Mondavi Center is a brand new building on the campus and it really is a nice venue; very intimate setting with absolutely beautiful architecture. If you're in Davis, you really should check it out. The concert itself was excellent with some very good pieces. There's something about the way God created the piano and its absolutely beautiful notes that just captures my attention. On Thursday night, we went to Fellowship at the local church. There were about 20 other brothers and sisters at the fellowship and it was a nice nite of games and of serving as we prepared props for their VBS that's coming up for high-schoolers. I would like to note that ice cream is a definite favorite dessert of the fellowship as they have had ice cream three consecutive fellowships so once again, we had ice cream. On Friday night, we went to see The Producers, the musical. We had first row seats and it was absolutely a blast! I won't spoil it for you but it is a pretty hilarious musical with all kinds of wit. (note: there is some sexual innuendo so you may find parts a little offensive). However, there is a part about CPA's that I like (being a CPA myself)... after the musical, we once again had ice cream. On Saturday, we went to my family's BBQ celebrating my sister's graduation from Cal and my cousin's graduation from Lowell High School. It was a ton of fun and we had tons of food as I got to bar-b-que spare ribs, chicken, beef kebabs, and other good stuff... mmmm... afterwards we took many of my cousins to see Harry Potter, which was a very good movie. Dark, but very good... ok, nuff for now, must get back to work.
