This is why I'm actually against the three strikes law. In theory, it's a dandy proposition. Make people who commit crimes habitually serve longer sentences. But then you hear about how it's being applied to a poor guy who stole a $10 calculator from a Walmart and your stomach just knots...

And it's no surprise that the state prosecuting a case (against a man it admits should have been set free years ago) is Texas. No offense to all you Texans out there. But Texas is one vindictive state...
