Hrm, just found out some fraudulent credit card charges that someone's been putting on my credit card account. My credit card company's changing my credit card number. I've never had credit fraud happen to me before. Anyone have some advice?

Do the charges follow a pattern that is inconsistant with your regular use? I've had someone take a card out in my name, but up until a certain point, they had been paying off the balance somehow. I only started getting the bills when they went delinquent. I don't really understand how this happened unless they were checking my mailbox for the bills daily... Anyway, I called the company and they confirmed that there was some misinformation (my mom's maiden name). I also had someone take out a cell phone in my name. I got a letter from the credit reporting agency and had to file a police report in order to have that dealt with.
Contact the company and let them know. People who work for credit companies steal numbers and expiration dates all the time. With internet access, it's really easy to use cc numbers with no id. =o)

Thanks for the advice LiS. I'll probably be ordering a credit report soon from each of the three credit companies.
